5 Things to Do With Mom in May in Seattle

May is here and we know Mother’s Day is just around the corner, but you can find things to do with Mom all month long! Here are 5 ideas for inspiration.

While we have had the wettest winter and spring on record in Seattle, we still managed to have some spectacular blooms. So take Mom for a walk or drive around Seattle parks and enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms. Those pink puff balls that can be found all over the city are the flowers of Kanzan cherry trees. Also to be enjoyed are the pink and white dogwood trees.

Japanese Garden Tea Ceremony The Japanese Garden holds a traditional tea ceremony called CHADO, there are 3 opportunities in May (reservations are required). https://www.seattlejapanesegarden.org/tea-ceremony/

Does Mom like books? Has she read Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford? Take her to the ID, or International District, and give her a tour of the Panama Hotel where you can see some of the belongings that were left in safe keeping when order #9066 was signed in 1942. can also enjoy dim sum at some of the restaurants in the area. And don’t forget the Wing Luke Museum.

Speaking of food, you know that Mother’s Day all the restaurants will be packed, so how about making a special date with Mom on another day and taking her out to lunch or dinner? There are so many good restaurants to choose from- ask your friendly innkeeper for a neighborhood recommendation.
